Wildlife Series
I created the Cultivated Wild series to reflect my desire to translate nature not as a literal scene, but as an immersive, emotional experience. The layered, lyrical paintings were inspired my deep connection to the Canadian landscape— especially where l live, in southern Alberta where forest, light, and wildlife exist in a quiet, ever-changing dialogue. Drawing from time spent in the Rockies and the subtle rhythms of forests, I explore the space between what is seen and what is felt: the hush of snow, the movement of wind through trees, and the fleeting presence of animals within it. Each piece began with an intuitive response to a memory, feeling or indelible experience. Each piece evolves through organic marks, glazes, and shifting, flowing colour pigments that echo growth, resilience, and renewal. This body of work feels at once untamed and gently held.
