ABOUT THE ARTIST

I’m Shelly Bischoff, a self-taught Métis artist living in the foothills near Calgary, Alberta. Born with a physical disability, I discovered art during childhood rehabilitation and have held onto it as a lifelong passion. Inspired by my Kookum and a deep connection to nature, I create expressive watercolour, acrylic, and oil paintings on paper, canvas, and reclaimed wood.

My work celebrates the beauty of wildlife, nature, and nostalgia—blending spirit, story, and emotion. Art has been a healing thread through my life, and I hope my paintings stir memories, connection, and joy in those who view them.

I live and paint in the foothills near Calgary, surrounded by wildflowers, wildlife, and open skies that continue to inspire me every day. My art is a reflection of that life—rooted in resilience, guided by story, and grounded in the beauty of nature.
